Vishanas

Vishanas is an experimental electronica performance duo that produces new sounds from song samples and women and queer people’s narratives that are representative of music.

Each performance is a unique production generated by sound experimenting and improvisation, creating soundscapes in a free and intuitive way, outside of genre labels, through the interaction of voice, harmonic, and rhythmic loops. By making sound stranger, they invite the audience to a journey, evoking original sounds and emotional auditory experiences. Besides, Vishanas mixes their music with their visual aesthetic, which is linked to trash, kitsch, and pop culture. Toying between what is familiar and what is bizarre, they aim to playfully recover certain feminine archetypes related to what is marginalized, controversial or taboo.

In 2020 they released their first record, “D-Voushon”, created from fragments of Disney female villains, which gave its name to the group. Thanks to the versatility of their production, they have performed in various venues and events like: annual Food Bank dinner in Metropolitano, Rosario; Night of the Museums at the CEC; and the opening of Fortnight of Arts at the Contemporary Art Museum of Rosario (Castagnino+Macro Museum). They have also performed in cultural spaces and art galleries like: Plataforma Lavarden, Galpón de la Música, Usina Oficial, Feuer, Gabelich Contemporáneo, and Espacio Barroco.

They have recorded two live performances: Live Session in the green courtyard at the Faculty of Humanities and Art (UNR) and Vishanas Electrosinfónico at Espacio Cultural Universitario.

Vishanas’s members are Candela Avendaño (Candela Unicornio) and Magdalena Ibarra Troiano (Guardiana de la Bahía).

Error 404
Live music

We reclaim the error as a possibility of production. Residues, recycling, are concepts that resonate with us and propose a creative opening. We reclaim “villanas” (female villains), we recover what was lost, we find the archive only to lose it again. Error 404 is an invitation to think about the border not as a limit, but as a possibility.
