ARTWORK

Estudio sobre la espiral: mutación y permanencia  (Study on the spiral: mutation and permanence)
Performance

This artwork is a performative and audiovisual action that investigates the spiral of current dancing, especially the spins as a rebellious protest against the rigidity of dance practices and their conservative norms. This is thanks to the external technological resources that work as an extension of the human movement and as a visual element. With them, a closed system of ESP-32 cameras is set up, which generates videos and audio in real time through live coding.

This artpiece consists of a metallic structure shaped like a spiral, which works as a prosthetic body. There is a dancer or performer in the center of this sculpture, and the closed circuit is on top of the spiral tube. The sculpture spins while the dancer is barely moving, and thanks to a patch, we can see the projection of a simulation of the body spinning in an “artificial” way.

This artwork was given a grant by FONCA New Technologies in 2022. However, due to financial national cuts in culture, it was never exhibited as a live act, only as a sculptural piece.
