Jeffu Warmouth

Jeffu Warmouth is a conceptual artist guided by a love for paradox, humour, and play. His artwork over the past 3 decades has spanned a wide range of media: photography, video, sculpture, and interactive installations. He is currently incorporating analogue video & audio synthesis into performance-based video sculptures. Jeffu has exhibited his installation & media artwork internationally, including the Boston Cyberarts Gallery; Boston Sculptors Gallery; Fitchburg Art Museum; Art on the Marquee; and the 404 Festival of Art & Technology in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and New York. He is a professor at Fitchburg State University, where he teaches Game Design and chairs the department of Communications Media.

Better Living Through Antagonistic Acoustics (Installation)
Two channel video sculpture with a 3-minute loop.
Audio & video created with homemade analogue synthesizers, scanned woodcuts, digital cameras and editing effects. No AI. I am exploring analogue video synthesis as a means of expanding the expressive possibilities in my performance-based video artwork. In these works, I am ultimately exploring what it means to be human, and to be an artist: to struggle, to compromise, to maintain, to communicate, to think, to move in the world, to exist, to thrive, to delight and despair, to build and break, to think and react, to intellectualize and emote, to embrace and reject.

Artist talk focused on work over the last decade, including recent video sculptures that incorporate analog video synthesis with performance-based video, exploring the human condition as we wrestle with technology and society.
