ARTWORK DESCRIPTION:
With media technologies flourishing and becoming indispensable to daily life, people have forfeited their ability to conduct individual initiatives, and are reduced to aimless composite life forms in a media-technology era. This intimate relationship is similar to that between human skin and clothing. The artwork, Blurred Light, uses interactive media to present garment designs that are based on design concepts for bionics. Therefore, this paper will include an in-depth discussion on interactive media artwork, bionic garment design, various types of new media-form expressions, and related design works. Blurred Light is comprised of LED media, interactive system, 3D fabrics, and a new type of interactive garment design. Using features of new interactive media to extend upon forms of marine life, this artwork creates an interactive relationship based on immediate feedback with the audience through interaction with the work itself. Through this approach, an artwork in the form of a new kind of media-based garment is created, echoing the relationship between media technologies and people, as well as presenting issues relating to composite life forms based on the human body.
