The “404 International Festival of Art and Technology” calls for artists and researchers from all over the world with the aim of stimulating and promoting creations that unite Art and Technology, from a humanistic and critical perspective, in the following areas:

“404 Festival” is an independent and non-profit project, created in 2004 in the city of Rosario, Argentina. As the country’s first festival of Art and Technology, its uniqueness lies in being an itinerant initiative. Over 23 years, it has been presented in 13 countries: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Colombia, Japan, France, Mexico and the United States.

The selected artists will present their work during the 23rd edition of the 404 in its 14th country, to be held in Northeast England from 27 August to 2 September, 2026, at Northern Dance, Northumbria University, Culture House Sunderland, and Digital Catapult.

Registration is free. You can submit your proposal by completing the online formby 30 March 2026.

Individual or collective artists, as well as researchers, over 18 years old and from any part of the world, can participate with a maximum of 3 works per person/collective (considering one form for each presented work). The selected artists will be contacted via email during April and May 2026.

We will offer invited artists without institutional support a limited number of accommodation places in Northumbria student accommodations. All venues will be able to provide equipment and technical support.

VENUES 2026

The Northern Dance Company is a contemporary dance and ballet company based in a converted warehouse in the creative Ouseburn district of Newcastle. We have created a very intimate space combining a large stage area with 20ft high ceiling, with lighting rig and a combination of LED and robot lights. We have space for around 80 people seated with additional standing room and side access to the stage area. We host working musicians and songwriters and have a sound system, mixing desk and a range of music instruments. Culture House Sunderland opens in Spring 2026 and will create a living room in the heart of the city where everyone feels welcome and spends time.
