ARTWORK
Techno para dos & Mariana A/V show 2023 (Techno for two & Mariana A/V show)
Performance
Techno para dos & Mariana (Mexico)
Project of the sound artist Raúl Villamil (Techno para dos) and the cellist Mariana, who live in Mexico City. It is a meeting point between two opposite music training poles (Raúl’s music training is electronica, while Mariana’s is a classical musical training with a specialization in early music performance). This meeting point transforms the sound of the violoncello by fusing timbral textures and extended techniques, in addition to acoustic instrument interventions with modular synth sounds and different types of noise. The result is a series of soundscapes that range from ambient and noise to IDM and experimental techno. Mariana and Raúl’s goal is to destabilize the habitual perception of classical and expected sounds.
