Biography

Gauthier Le Rouzic is part of a still emerging lineage of Geek artists without making the apology ctional science of the format. The playful aspect of these pieces allows specta- tors of all ages to identify, remember or project into the future, creating a modern poetry barely exploited in Art.

The object looks at itself, listens, plays and communicates. The history of the objects used creates a contemporary narrative that is interpreted in a life experience of our own. In a deep and pragmatic approach, the pieces of Gauthier Le Rouzic initiate a meeting ma- chine / human to create a dialogue that does not exist.

The artist is then forgotten, these machines become literally his word. He communicates with these tools as a magician communicates with these towers. He gives voice to inert objects, is this the hidden desire of Man, that everything around him speaks to him and communicates with them?

If we do not ful ll this dream by starting with our own creations, how can man communi- cate with the world and his natural network. Questioning the evolution of these machines giving them a second life, so that others after us can never forget what and where the computer revolution started. Involve the network and the communication in a solemn work, lled with a desire to relive to a bygone era, feeling born of a nostalgia that he did not know, while putting a new and optimistic view on the probable relation love that the man will live with digital, here is the work of Gauthier Le Rouzic.

Érosion Numérique – Xochipilli
3D printed sculpture installation

Generous provision of the first 3D file by the artist Diego Trujillo Pesanty.

By definition, scanning is the conversion of information from a medium, limited by the maximum resolution of the scanning tool. The Erosion Numérique installation questions general digitization (archives, libraries, museums, etc.) linked to the evolution of storage and/or creation technologies.

The meeting of two diametrically opposed rudiments here provokes a visualization of a possible. The successive digitizations linked to the creation protocol therefore imitate the repetition of friction of natural erosion; the loss of material therefore becomes visible.

Creation protocol:
Phase 1: Digitization of an existing sculpture
Phase 2: Printing the 3D file using a 3D printer
Phase 3: Scan the print made in Phase 2
Phase 4: Repeat Phases 2 & 3 until you get a visually consistent result.
The Digital Erosion – Xochipilli installation questions the general over-digitization (archives, libraries, museums, etc.) linked to the evolution of storage and/or creation technologies.

Each scanning step involves data loss from the scanned source file. This loss is accentuated by the precision limit of the reproduction tools. By repeating this process, we obtain a color chart that exaggerates the successive losses of information, and we thus produce a projection of what could result from it.

Installation produced as part of the 20th edition of the 404 Festival, from October 12 to 15, 2023 in Mexico City: El Centro Nationale de las Artes

TypeWriter Bot
Interactive installation

TypeWriterBot examines the relationship we can have with machines but also the definition of discussion today. In our time, conversation via social networks has become commonplace and completely normal… It is on this that I wanted to focus.

By using a typewriter, we accentuate the embarrassment but also the surprise and thought-process of the users.
