Mark Cypher

Dr Mark Cypher is a new media artist, designer and educator from Perth, Western Australia. His practice reflects an ongoing engagement with the practice and discourse of digital media. His artwork has featured in 35 international exhibitions including, ISEA2017 (Colombia), Cyfest 2017(Russia), ISEA 2011 (Istanbul), 404 (Argentina), Siggraph 2006 (USA), FILE 2006 ( Brazil), Transitio_MX (Mexico) and Currents (USA). Mark Cypher’s artwork is also represented in several Australian state and national collections.

ReDissonance
Net.art

ReDissonance is a net art work that generates real-time visual and aural compositions based on an artificial intelligence’s interpretation of the emotion in Tweets. Using Foucalt’s statement that systems of discourse are self-generating ‘practices that … form the objects of which they speak’. ReDissonance attempts to visually ‘re-encrypt’ each tweet based on the formation of affect performed through social media.
