PERFORMANCE "CUBIE"

PERFORMANCE "CUBIE"
Cubie is a software instrument which provides innovative idea
of musical performance, differs from existing musical performance
system such as musical notation, DJ systems, DAW systems,
etc... It has a novel concept incorporating a new interactive
technique based on puzzle games. Music is represented from
highly saturated colored letters on a 3D cube. Almost unlimited
number of melodies and
rhythms can be created from a combination of those letters,
and it can be changed on real-time by operations based on
puzzle game. Those playful operations push a performer to
play repeatedly and get the skill of performing with Cubie.
Cubie is free software and you can play just like sadmb do.

PERFORMANCE "OVERBUG"

PERFORMANCE "Overbug"
Overbug is a music-performance tool designed to compose Minimal
and Dance Music.
Through looping and newly arranging sound patterns, called
'Bugsounds', the program creates complex, polyrhythmic sounds.
Overbug differs from conventional linear controlled music
sequencers, which arrange the sound into a linear timeline
from left to right. In Overbug the sound arrangement of the
repeating music loops is equal to the visual abstraction of
circular actions which built the interface through circles.

Hiroshi Matoba was born in Japan in 1983. After undergraduate
course of product design, now he is studying sound art and
programming at the Kyushu University and ADCDU. His interest
is focused on making a new sequence system for music. Recently
he tried to make a original circular software and hardware
sequencer instead of throwing away a traditional liner sequence
system.
This system make his original audio and visual performance
and installation.

PERFORMANCE " efffaeede"
PERFORMANCE "efffaeede"
This artwork is audio visual live performance with video feedback.
This title "efffaeede" comes from eff + feed + fade.
Eff means effect, feed means feedback, and fade means fade
in or out. Performer makes feedback images Digital video camera.
The video feedback images are generated with digital video
camera and LCD display. Using software on laptop PC between
camera and display, performer can change some parameter and
make sound from images. The change of images based on fractal
and gradual approach become much more complicated and unpredictable
by the effect of software and performance's directly approach.
Main concept of this artwork is that transmuting a phenomenon
into big one.

INSTALLATION "DENKI DOMINO"
INSTALLATION "DENKI DOMINO"
DENKI DOMINO is a new composition system for visual and audio
sequences.
"DENKI ("dC)" means "electric".
DENKI DOMINO is small boxes implemented LEDs,light detector,
micro computer, and small speaker. Each DOMINO reacts to the
light. When DOMINO receives the light, it makes a small sound
from itself and turn on its led light. Each DOMINO is just
a box which make a sound and light, but when we put it like
a "domino toppling", the sequence of sound and light
happen to be generated. In addition, we can make a musical
loop by putting DOMINO as circular layout. DENKI DOMINO enabled
us to grab the sound by hand, put or pile
on floor like a musical score and play in real time at real
space.
