"Over one thousand two hundred people, most in their teens,
were present at the opening ceremony of 404. International and local
artists along with a large audience gathered at the museum, browsed
through the exhibits, and watched the performances and the electronic
music show in the terrace of the museum".
LA
CAPITAL newspaper "Electronic Art has settled in Rosario"
"The
International Festival of Electronic Art has settled in Rosario
and was warmly welcomed by both young people and adults who enjoy
the talks, works and performances by artists from 27 countries and
28 cities of Argentina. Certainly the cherry on the cake is the
music and dance that follow and lastuntil dawn every evening. The
festival started the night before last and will go on until this
Sunday, taking place simultaneously at Juan B. Castagnino Museum
of Fine Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACRO), the Cultural
Center PARQUE DE ESPAÑA and the Center of Contemporary Expressions
CEC) with free admission.
Today from 4 p.m. there wil be auditions at the Castagnino Museum
with artists from Spain, Chile and USA. From 8 p.m. at PARQUE DE
ESPAÑA there will be videos, installations and performances
by different authors followed by performances by musicians from
Rosario, Buenos Aires and Eslovenia. Tomorrow the electronic music
show will take place on the banks of the Paraná River at
MACRO, where there will also be a great dance with live music by
artists from Rosario, Mendoza, Buenos Aires and from Canada, among
oher countries.
In addition, at 6 p.m. at the Castagnino Museum there will be talks
and two performances by American and Canadian artists. The day after
tomorrow, at the CEC (Sargento Cabral and the river) a huge farewel
party will be given as from 10:30 p.m.The organizers promise live
music, videos on large screens, and a big audiovisual set with almost
all new works by outstanding Sweden, Dutch and Argentine artists,
among others.
In fact, the festival of Electronic Art gathers hundreds of international
artists who work with different electronic tools and include still
images, websites, animation, videos, installations, performances,
net-art and music. The organizing team pointed out that Rosario
stages presentations of 146 authors selected out of 350 registered
ones representing 27 countries. Besides, 210 selected works out
of a total of 680 proposals are exhibited. This poses a challenge
for people who love an art that has started to have its followers".

Bracco, " NOTIEXPRESS". December 16th 2004, Rosario.
"404 is here to stay"
"I
404 is over. For six days Rosario became the international venue
for electronic art. The festival caught the attention of the people
of the artistic world interested in this new art-technology relationship,
the local government authorities interested in knowing what their
facilities were used for and the public in general interested in
learning what it was all about.
Nobody was used to coming across electronic culture, which had until
then belonged in alternative hang-outs, in traditional places such
as museums and cultural centers. This proves to be an advance in
this sort of game between new artistic trends and cultural policies,
a step forward for the people linked to electronic art and another
one for the local authorities making room for the the avant-guarde.
It was hard work before and during the festival and there were also
some real gems: "Coke is it" (robotic performances), "Body
degree zero" (interactive performance with Canada), "Continuityin
the parks" (installation), Videogames and Dj set at MACRO,
"A is for an apple" and "Huiwaikeung.org" (net
art) and the "San Telmo Lounge" from Rosario.
404 left a mark on the local culture, which shows that museums also
have spaces for the new proposals and that electronic culture is
not a question of techno music alone. The II Festival is coming
up next year,so see you then." Gustavo Bracco, Notiexpress.
